Salford City Council is on a journey to create a health, safety and wellbeing culture of excellence are you an experienced health and safety professional who can make this a reality?

We have recently brought together our employee wellbeing and health and safety teams to create a new service dedicated to improving the health, safety and wellbeing of our 3,700 employees.

To realise our ambition, we are looking for three inspiring individuals to join the Council as Health, Safety and Wellbeing Business Partners.

These are far more than traditional health and safety roles, we need people who are passionate about wanting to make a real difference to the lives of others, who can live and breathe our values and who are up for a challenge!

About the Role

Our new Health, Safety and Wellbeing Business Partners will work with our services

Providing authoritative advice and guidance on health and safety matters to all stakeholders in services across the Council Reviewing and auditing arrangements for health and safety management and continuously improving these arrangements where appropriate Conducting and reviewing risk assessments and audits, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation. Collaborating with managers at all levels to support health, safety and wellbeing excellence. Drive behavioural change across the Council. Writing engaging communications and delivering training to employees at all levels.

About you

Significant experience in a similar health, safety and wellbeing role, preferably within a large, complex organisation. A relevant health and safety qualification e.g. Nebosh General Certificate (essential) Nebosh Diploma (preferred) or equivalent. Investigation skills to implement health and safety systems, oversee accident investigations and identify training needs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills to influence, persuade and motivate others to adopt safer working practices. Data analysis skills to identify themes and trends and report on these to leadership teams with recommendations for action / improvement. A proactive and systematic approach to work, with strong organisational skills. Chartered membership with a professional body such as IOSH or CIEH (preferred but not essential).
