Hackney Council are looking for an exceptional leader to join our Housing Property Services team as the Assistant Director of Building Safety. This is a key leadership role with remit and responsibility for shaping the Council's approach to ensuring that the health, safety and wellbeing of our residents, staff, contractors, and the public is our highest priority.

The Assistant Director of Building Safety role offers a unique opportunity to make a huge impact in shaping change within Building Safety throughout the full project lifecycle of property, leading on all aspects of safety across our assets, and act as the guardian of resident and building safety culture for the Council.

A keen influencer and facilitator, you will be visible and able to give clear direction, identify gaps in process, and create and roll out effective solutions. We want someone strategically minded, able to assess the wider picture, identify shifts in safety requirements and limit risk within both legacy and new development projects. You will be a confident relationship builder and communicator keen to collaborate effectively with other senior leaders and their teams across the whole business.

To be successful in this important role you will need a strong understanding of risk management within buildings, including fire safety and building safety, with relevant experience at a senior level within a similar organisation. We would expect the AD of Building Safety to be educated to and be a Chartered Member of IOSH or equivalent body.
