About the Role

We are growing Health and Safety team and looking for an experience Health and Safety Management to work directly with a well-known global E-commerce client.  The successful candidate will lead and maintain the health and safety management system and act as the primary point of contact for the UK and Ireland.

Responsibilities involve:  

  • The role is to maintain the health and safety management system and act as the primary point of contact for the UK and Ireland
  • You demonstrate a driven, proactive, customer centric and solutions approach.
  • You seek to learn, develop and grow both technically and in soft skills
  • We are not looking for a person that is happy ‘ticking the box’. You will be bold and capable of identifying areas for improvement, challenging the approach where required and proposing the solution
  • You do not require intimate knowledge of international H&S legislation, but you must be capable of reactive research and understanding of legislative implementation, with a willingness to learn the legislative requirements for all countries under the role responsibility
  • Provide competent responses to client queries and manage ad hoc support questions, with consideration of legislative requirements, best practices and client health and safety standards
  • Prepare and deliver to stakeholder’s essential EHS information, including data analysis and reports
  • Support the creation of EHS standards, signage package, user guides, training, local and regional processes
  • Work collaboratively with the client’s vendors/contractors to ensure effective and seamless service delivery, including significant engagement with the Facilities Management vendor and site visits where needed
  • Implement all  UK & Ireland EHS programs in the area
  • Support Design and Construction works from the EHS stand point of view.
  • Liaise with different stakeholders to ensure safety during events, both onsite and offsite
  • Support during internal / external audits and inspections from the Authorities
  • Compliance with the Bureau Veritas UK Health & Safety policy and procedures, Management System and divisional methods and procedures
  • Operate in line with Bureau Veritas Core Values and Code of Ethics

What are we looking for?

Skills and Experience

  • This role would be perfect for a H&S specialist who is Tech IOSH working towards Grad IOSH, who has the understanding and knowledge of UK and Ireland Health and Safety Regulation and experience in practical implantation
  • Demonstratable experience reviewing and creating Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Experience in similar H&S Advisory/Consultant roles with exposure to a broad spectrum of health and safety management systems
  • Confident in presenting information in person and via video/audio conferencing
  • Confident in liaising with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels of an organisation, 
  • Exposure to a variety of safety and health risks
  • Procedure, accident investigation and report writing experience
  • Operating under an established Health & Safety Management System
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Driven, proactive, and ownership
  • Multi-tasking
  • Collaborative, team player

Qualifications

Essential

  • Level 3 health and safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Working towards Level 6 health and safety qualification, such as the National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  • GCSE or equivalent at Grade C or above in English Language and Mathematics
