THE ROLE
As the Group Head of Health and Safety at BSW Timber, a pivotal senior management role integral to the business, you will take on full responsibility for the company's health and safety. This includes overseeing strategic direction, development, performance, and maintenance. Your key responsibilities will encompass:
- Leading the development of a robust health and safety strategy.
- Engaging with various business units within the BSW Group to foster a positive safety culture.
- Enhancing safety systems and conducting risk analyses while driving continuous programme improvement.
- Overseeing and supporting various ISO accreditation campaigns.
- Championing a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation, from employees to the board.
- Efficiently managing the health and safety budget, which involves resource allocation, financial impact analysis, and identifying cost-saving opportunities through proactive risk management.
- Providing leadership and mentorship to the ESH (Environment, Safety, and Health) team, offering clear objectives, guidance, and training.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you should be an accomplished NEBOSH qualified practitioner with significant experience in a similar role, preferably in a related multi-site sector (e.g., manufacturing, forestry, or other related fields).
Your abilities/experience should include:
- A comprehensive understanding of relevant ISO systems.
- Effective communication skills at all organisational levels and the ability to influence both senior management and employees in promoting a positive health and safety culture.
- Proficiency in comprehending, interpreting, and applying applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
- Recognised people management and leadership skills, including the ability to guide your team, make timely decisions, and deliver on business objectives.
