Are you an experienced Health and Safety Professional looking to broaden your career? Do you want to be part of our purpose – to enable a zero carbon, lower cost energy future?

We are looking to recruit an experienced HSE Advisor into our safety team, which is part of our Health, Safety, Environment and Governance team (HSE&G)– based here on our site in Selby, North Yorkshire. This is a role whereby your experience and knowledge will add huge value to the Health and Safety of our site. This is a permanent role, Monday through to Friday and it will be plant based at Selby.

About the role

If you like to lead from the front and provide leadership then you’ll certainly have the opportunity for that in this position. Your primary responsibility will be to undertake the role of HSE Advisor, ensuring that Health, Safety and Environment standards and responsibilities are understood by all involved within Drax Power Station.

Drawing upon your experience, you’ll be implementing and maintaining Drax health & safety policies and supporting our Environment team to ensure best practice codes are adhered to according to local standards and legislation.

With your experience and knowledge of managing projects, you’ll also be involved in major projects, such as outages, ensuring that engineering outage shutdowns and project work is managed to required safety and operational standards.

You’ll be the person who provides advice and guidance on safety matters to colleagues and contractors and you’ll be the person supporting production teams in managing safety interfaces between multiple contractors.

Strong communication is important to this role therefore you’ll be confident in engaging with colleagues, external stakeholders, senior management teams and contractors.  Using your expertise and knowledge, this role will provide you with the scope to introduce new innovative approaches to our HSE management and processes.

This role is predominantly health and safety focused but supporting the wider HSE&G teams.

About you

You’ll bring experience from working in a HSE environment, working within energy, high hazard, engineering, construction or manufacturing industries.

What is a must is a level 6 safety qualification i.e NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards). If you’re a trained auditor that would be highly beneficial, if not then this is certainly something we can support your development with. You’ll also have an understanding of implementing relevant Health & Safety management systems ISO45001 and understanding of ISO14001.

If you have a passion and drive for HSE and have the ability to work autonomously and self-motivate, then this could be the role for you.
