We are now looking for Trainee Inspectors of Health and Safety to join us on a permanent, full-time basis at locations throughout the UK.

The Role

As a Trainee Inspector of Health and Safety, you will learn how to undertake a range of workplace inspections and investigations.

Embarking on a robust training programme, you’ll build a technical understanding of the law, safety technology and health matters and learn how companies manage these issues at every level.

You’ll carry out inspections, proactively assessing how employers manage risk in the workplace, and investigate issues such as accidents, dangerous occurrences, ill health and concerns about workplace conditions.

Gathering data and information to support your decisions, you’ll follow up with remedial action, working with other agencies, identifying any breaches of law and helping employers understand how to comply with requirements. 


After your training, you will:

  • Prepare cases for prosecution for criminal court proceedings
  • Produce site strategies and intervention planning
  • Notify employers of cost recovery regimes

Please note, this role may involve working outside, at height and in other uncomfortable conditions.

About You

To be considered as a Trainee Inspector of Health and Safety, you will need:

  •  At a minimum, a 2:2 degree in any subject or a higher qualification (or equivalent)
  • Sound analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Initiative and decisiveness, supporting your ability to make effective decisions
  • A commitment to achieving the Regulators' Training programme, with the ability to proactively manage your own learning needs
  • A full, valid driving licence (due to nationwide travel)
