HSE Recruitment are currently exclusively working with a leading public sector organisation on the recruitment of a Health and Safety Manager, for a fixed term contract of 6-12 months. This role will be based from a site in Sunderland with the potential for some agile/hybrid working.

As a Health and Safety Manager you will be responsible for leading the implementation of the client's audits, inspections and safety management system as well as leading the safety team to support in providing competent safety advice to a variety of divisions. The team are going through a period of change and require a strong leader that can support them and provide management advice, whilst leading from the front and working in a very hands on way.

Amongst other responsibilities you will lead on the delivery of the health and safety agenda while seeking areas for continuous improvement, as well as ensuring that our client is fully compliant with its health and safety legal, statutory and regulatory responsibilities. You will manage the allocation of staff across a portfolio of health and safety projects, ensuring that individuals have access to the right resources to deliver their work, so man management experience is necessary.

Ideally you will be degree qualified or have a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, as well as being Grad IOSH or CMIOSH. The ideal candidate would have a background in public sector such as higher education, councils, or similar but we are open to individuals from other disciplines who can demonstrate real hands on experience of man management, change management and leadership.
