The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Team has a 23-month fixed term role in the Construction and Field Operations Team. The role will primarily undertake safety, health, environment, and wellbeing (SHEW) audits of our construction supply chain to ensure good standards of performance is maintained. The successful candidate will ideally be based in the East or Southeast of England.
The successful candidates will also:
- Provide technical advice to the business on SHEW topics associated with design, construction, and maintenance.
- Support incident learning reviews and associated learning
- Ensure instructions and guidance relevant to your specialist topic areas remain up to date
- Creating training and awareness tools and deliver these to the business
- Influencing our supply chain partners to continuously improve their performance
At all times you’ll role-model the SHEW behaviours and practice that we expect of our colleagues.
The team
As part of Health, Safety and Wellbeing team, we work with colleagues who manage our assets (eg flood defences) and our supply chain to develop our work standards and provide expert technical advice to keep everyone involved safe and well. We undertake extensive programmes of audits and assurance, so our standards are followed. If something goes wrong, we provide technical support for reviews and lessons are embedded into our standards to prevent issues happening again.
Experience/skills required
You will have experience of construction and maintenance projects and professionally qualified to at least NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety level or above.
Your skills and abilities in building rapport with your customers and peers, through clear and persuasive communication (both oral and written) is a vital attribute. You will be comfortable reviewing and improving ways of working to enable a consistent understanding and application of H&S legislation and best practice in design, planning and construction delivery.
Experience of developing, managing and leading audit and monitoring activities is preferred.
