Located in the heart of Hertfordshire, the borough lies between central London and Cambridge, with easy access to both. It’s an exciting place whose population is the youngest in the county, and one of its most diverse. Home to the University of Hertfordshire and the headquarters of two FTSE 100 companies (Tesco and Ocado) along with other industry leaders in research, science and logistics, its economic potential is huge.

We are looking to appoint an experienced building safety professional to this new created role where you will manage and lead a specialist team, delivering compliance and building safety services ensuring we meet our statutory and policy requirement.

You will lead on the technical and customer service aspects of the service, developing and maintaining a strong partnering relationship whilst supporting and driving organisational and cultural change to deliver the Council’s mission and values.

We are a customer-focused organisation, and you must also maintain a commitment to their needs at all times. In addition, you will have excellent budget and contractor management skills you will be passionate about building safety and making a real difference.

You will have a good level of experience in building safety compliance, including the management of staff. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a strategic approach to work and the skills to introduce new ideas and working practices.
