Director - Health, Safety and Environment (HSE)

Irwin and Colton have been engaged by a major construction and infrastructure company to recruit their Director of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE). The organisation are well known in the sector and are on a growth strategy to turnover £1bn. Sitting on the main Board, this role is tasked with setting and implementing the group strategy and laying the platform for continued development in the HSE function.

Health, safety and environment are core to business activity and are a key 'foundation stone' of the group. Key responsibilities for the Director of HSE will include:

• Leading the development and execution of the health, safety, and environment strategy and tactical plan across the group
• Engaging across the business, including working with the Board of Directors and all Associate Directors to continue to drive a positive safety culture
• Scanning the horizon for future challenges and opportunities and implementing innovative ideas to drive continual improvement
• Setting performance targets and ensuring accurate reporting against these

The successful Director of Health, Safety and Environment will hold:

• Senior leadership experience in a similar role from within construction or civil engineering or a related industry
• Experience in influencing, engaging and coaching senior management to successfully drive change management projects
• Strategic vision, with the ability to identify innovative ideas and convert these into successful projects which have a tangible impact on HSE performance
• Chartered Membership of IOSH and a relevant degree level qualification
