Health and Safety Advisor
Salary: £35,000 - £39,000
Location: North Yorkshire, Skipton

My client who are a respected consultancy business are currently looking for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join there fantastic team based in North Yorkshire. The consultancy offer services for clients to outsource there H&S & HR needs and help protect and support the business and people within.

The main responsibilities for the role of Health and Safety Advisor include:
  • Manage and represent a portfolio of clients.
  • Dedicate time to generating new business and pitching clients.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, and lead by example to ensure company goals are achieved and exceeded.
  • Brainstorm strategies for growth, positive change and improvement.
  • Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced.
  • Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards.
  • Carry out regular site visits to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
  • Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation.
  • Prepare Health & Safety strategies and develop policies and procedures.
  • Lead in-house Client training with managers and employees about Health & Safety issues and risks.
  • Keep records of health and safety findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
  • Record incidents and accidents for Clients.
  • Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health & Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry
  • Attend Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) seminars and read professional journals.
  • Produce management reports and bulletins.
  • Advise on a range of health and safety areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases;
  • Advise and support Clients in the use of Health & Safety Management systems and other relevant technical documents and online services.
  • Assist with the development and promotion of environmental and sustainability initiatives and innovations across the business.
  • Be aware of the company targets for environmental performance and assist with the strategy to achieve them.
  • Actively take part in networking.
  • Manage or assist with marketing campaigns, strategies and brand development and review data.

The main purpose of the Health and Safety Advisor role is:
To raise awareness and promote the importance of a safe working culture. To co-ordinate, support and advise Clients on all aspects with regards to Health & Safety Management. To establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with Health & Safety within Craven Consultancy Services and Our Clients are adhered to.
 
The main requirements for the role of Health and Safety Advisor include:
  • NEBOSH (General Certificate) qualified or working towards NEBOSH certificate accreditation
  • A comprehensive knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation, management and standards
  • Ability to interpret and provide timely and professional advice on Health & Safety and risk management issues
  • Good working knowledge and development of environmental and sustainable initiatives and innovations
  • Proven experience as a Health & Safety Advisor and/or Consultant
  • A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Health, Safety and Risk Management.
  • Computer savvy (IT Skills (MS Office: Word, Excel and Outlook) with working knowledge of H&S systems
  • An analytical & creative mind with problem-solving abilities
  • Effective time management (planning, prioritisation & organising)
  • Strong focus on excellent customer service
  • The ability to embrace and adapt to change
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Continuous improvement & growth mindset
