Health & Safety Manager - Permanent - Logistics/Distribution


I am currently working with a key client who are a market leader in logistics and distribution and are looking for a Health & Safety Manager to join their business to manage the Health & Safety onsite for a specific customer contract.

Reporting into the General Manager and with 1 direct report, the main purpose of your role is to hold responsibility for reviewing all health & Safety compliance on site whilst delivering on company policies and procedures with a constant appetite for improvement. This is a key role to support a specific customer contract and you will play a lead role in the continuous improvement of the site's safety plans.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage site Health & Safety in accordance with the company's Safety Health Environmental Procedures
  • Ensure the site meets or exceeds the Health & Safety targets expected by Company / Client
  • Work alongside the training team to ensure all colleagues and managers are trained as per requirements.
  • Co-ordination of all site Health & Safety activities including committees and training and communications to ensure the site remains compliant
  • Support and drive central initiatives that are rolled out across the network
  • Assist/undertake risk assessments and create SSOWs as required
  • Ensure compliance when dealing with accident investigation and RIDDOR reports
  • Work in line with Company Process and Audit requirements
  • Define problems and devise effective solutions using rigorous logical and analytical tools
  • Carry out site inspections to analyse what exists and what needs to be done, and arrange for appropriate actions to be taken


What you'll need to succeed
You must hold NEBOSH as a minimum to be considered for this role and have previous experience either as a Health & Safety Advisor and looking to step up or as an experienced Health & Safety Manager, ideally with a logistics//distribution/warehousing background. You will be self motivated and disciplined as well as being able to resolve complex issues whilst under pressure.

What you'll get in return
This is a full time, permanent position with your working hours being 8 - 4. Competitive salary bracket of £45,000 - £55,000 depending on experience, company pension, free onsite parking and 25 days holidays plus bank holidays with the option to purchase more.
