The role

We seek an enthusiastic and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team to be the main point of contact for information, advice, and guidance on all matters relating to specialist health and safety matters across the Moredun Group (i.e. the governing Charity, the Research Institute, and the commercial-facing subsidiaries).

The post holder will be required to support all levels of employees in order to achieve legislative compliance and to implement effective occupational health and safety management systems across the organisation. The role covers a diverse range of working environments including laboratories adhering to Level 2 and 3 containment levels and agricultural facilities.

You will need to have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills with ability to influence others.

Essential requirements

You will have:

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject and professional health and safety qualification
  • Knowledge of current health and safety practice and legislation
  • Experience of advising on health and safety in a similar role
  • Experience of working within biomedical science, higher education laboratory or medical environment
  • Experience of writing policies, standards, and risk assessments and incident investigation
  • Knowledge and/or experience of working within Containment Level 2 and 3 facilities
  • Experience of presenting information to a group, for example delivering training or giving presentations.

Interviews will be held in January 2023 and applicants will be asked to provide a 10-minute presentation to the panel on the following: ‘Describe your approach to developing robust safe systems of work in a diverse work environment such as the Moredun Group’.
