HSE Recruitment are working on a really exciting opportunity with a leading manufacturing company in Minworth, North Birmingham, to find them a new Health, Safety and Sustainability Manager.

The business is hungry for change and need someone to come in with a fresh pair of eyes, who can bring a new lease of life to the function, who can identify areas of improvement, create and shape the strategy and enhance the internal perception of safety. Safety is currently in a good place but it feels stagnant and isn’t progressing. They don’t want to be just good
, they have aspirations to lead the group from a safety point of view and to improve the site. The business thrived throughout COVID and next year is looking equally positive.
The primary responsibility of the Health and Safety and Sustainability Manager is to take the lead for the Businesses overall Health and Safety strategy and implementation at the Minworth site. This will include the development of a standard approach and implementation and monitoring of measures across the Business. Additionally this role will lead the change in implementing strong Sustainability strategies and plans, as they continue our quest to become a fully sustainable Manufacturer and Distributor.
This is a standalone role which reports into the Operations Director and sits as part of the senior management team. They are a seasonal business so fluctuate from 300 staff during off peak and over 600 during peak time. There is a functioning safety committee to lean upon for support and can take the lead on projects. Person specification:
- NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum qualification
- Strong Manufacturing experience
- This role could suit a Strong H&S Manager or a H&S Advisor ready to take a step up into their first Manager position.
- Experience running sustainability or environmental projects
- Personality wise we need is someone who is hungry, passionate and ready to come in and really push this business forward from where it is. Someone who will take ownership of the function, who will provide direction and always strive to be better.
Salary is ideally up to £50,000 but if you need a bit more then we can have a discussion.
Working hours- Monday to Thursday 8.30-4.45 and Friday 8.30-3.45// No hybrid or home working //there may be some flexibility around start and finish time within reason.
