HSE Recruitment are working for a fantastic forwarding thinking manufacturing company to find them a new Senior Health, Safety and Environment Advisor at their site in Gravesend, Kent.
The site itself is a COMAH site and has around 150 staff and operates 24/7. You would work as part of a team; above you is a Head of HSE and a HSE Director and underneath are two advisors with strengths in different areas. You will support and mentor your less experienced team members.
There are plans to redevelop part of the site and there is longevity here. There are fast moving projects ongoing and the GM is focusing on the now as well as the future of the site which ties in nicely with the HSE Directors ambitious plans to be the centre of excellence. There is a lot to do here, it isn’t the finished article and things can feel reactive so its about balancing the current immediate needs with future planning. They are part of a wider group so there are further opportunities to progress down the line.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide the necessary information, expertise and support in the specific areas such as COMAH and DSEAR
• Produce and present monthly and quarterly Health & Safety and Environmental presentations
• Implement the long-term HSE management strategy in line with site and corporate standards
• Contribute to the development and implementation of HSC Processes, Procedures and training
• Co-ordinate and manage the site risk identification and assessment processes
• Carry out internal audits to ensure all work is carried out in accordance to company Policies, Standards and Procedures
• Assist with site certification, ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 50001
• Provide all departments and personnel with advice on managing and improving their HSEC management capabilities
• Coordinate and review investigation activities to ensure they are carried out, to a suitable standard and in the event of a serious incident actively lead and direct accident investigation to ensure potential learning are identified and acted upon
Essential
• NEBOSH Certificate
• Heavy industry/manufacturing experience
• Environmental experience
• You must already have some H&S experience in an advisor/manager capacity
• You must be engaging, able to influence, and bring people on the journey
• The right drive, work ethic and passion for making a difference
• Resilient and can deal with changing plans and different requirements.
Desirable
• Diploma Level qualified in Health & Safety
• Environmental qualification
• Experience working on a COMAH site would be highly advantageous along with process safety, DSEAR, Atex experience
The salary banding on offer is broad and is dependant on experience level. We are offering £40-60,000 plus a good package including strong pension and bonus scheme.
