An exciting and varied position has become available at Gwent Police, Health and Safety Department. We are looking for an individual to join our forward thinking and expanding team of professionals as we drive towards Gold standard service in the Force. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and willing to help us drive the Department forward.

Your responsibilities as our Health & Safety Assistant will include:

  • Support the H&S Advisors in the management of the current incident database and help with the role out of the new electronic H&S system when it arrives including data transfer, training of staff, communications etc to embed the new system.
  • To provide first point of contact support for the H&S department, responding to and dealing with enquiries in a timely and professional manner, ensuring efficient and effective administration services and directing staff to the appropriate source of information.
  • Collect, interpret and evaluate information from a wide range of information sources in a timely manner to facilitate informed decision making eg DSE, training information etc.
  • Support the H&S team in the preparation of all forms of data for meetings and reports.
  • To support the H&S Advisors with risk assessments, updates as well as review programmes.
  • Support the H&S Advisors in their internal audit program, updating outstanding actions lists for the purpose of the quarterly and annual review meetings.

We are looking for:

  • Must have NVQ Level 3 Health and Safety (NEBOSH Certificate) and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Must have experience of working with H&S Systems and knowledge of ISO45001.
  • Must be able to interpret and present information.
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills.
  • Must possess experience in providing excellent customer service.
