This is a fantastic opportunity to join our airport team and lead our EHSQ agenda.  You will be responsible for developing and delivering the EHSQ strategy and working with the senior management team to ensure alignment with the wider business strategy and objectives.

You will be performance driven and able to communicate clear and concise goals, yet also maintain a collaborative, team oriented approach. You will energise our internal teams and third parties to deliver positive change as we move from a compliance based to a cultural driven EHSQ environment.

  • Overall accountability for EHSQ performance. 
  • Create the vision and provide leadership for EHSQ matters across the business
  • Drive adaptation of global best practices to improve performance and systems.
  • Provide full support to the Executive team in all EHSQ matters.
  • Participate as a full member of the Airport Leadership Team .
  • Create regular and effective communications channels to staff and 3rd parties.
  • Promote a culture of continual improvement performance linked to organisational values.
  • Establish annual EHSQ goals in collaboration with the Technical Director and CEO.
  • Coordinate, facilitate and promote the delivery of an effective EHSQ Management System accredited to ISO 14001, 45001 and 9001 to ensure Edinburgh Airport meets its statutory responsibilities and provides safe working environments for staff, passengers and those affected by the airport’s activities.
  • Lead the quarterly Executive Managing Responsible Group meeting of key business leaders to review performance and define appropriate action plans.
  • Provide leadership and vision for the EHSQ Management System across the campus
  • Review and consider changes to legislation, guidance and other relevant developments and develop strategies for their implementation where necessary.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with all key regulatory stakeholders, acting as the primary contact between regulators and the airport.
  • Ensure the on-going effectiveness of EHSQ risk assessment and risk management tools.
  • Lead the design and deployment of EHSQ training strategy for Edinburgh Airport staff and third parties
  • Deliver Behavioural Incident Analysis and Root Cause Analysis sessions to address EHSQ issues and improve performance.
  • Manage external EHSQ audits and the internal audit programme in line with  ISO 14001, 45001 and 9001 engaging with teams across the business to develop action plans to ensure compliance and continual improvement.
  • Represent Edinburgh Airport as the EHSQ technical expert in internal and external stakeholder meetings as required

You will have:

  • Degree /Masters qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Environmental Science or similar
  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • ISO 45001, 9001 and14001 Lead Auditor with experience of conducting internal audits
  • Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to create a clear EHSQ vision and strategy and priorities tasks and actions to deliver the strategy
  • Ability to perform analysis and manipulate data to draw insights and make clear recommendations
  • Ability to engage with, manage and lead groups of non-direct reports
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Confidence in decision making and issue resolution
  • Self-motivation and able to work independently with a flexible approach to working hours
  • Ability to operate under pressure
  • The ability to organise and prioritise workload.
