The Opportunity

This post represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to take on a newly created role within Keele University’s Legal, Governance & Compliance team. Legal, Governance & Compliance sits within the Chief Operating Officer’s Office and is responsible for advising the University on legal issues and information compliance; providing oversight and assurance of corporate governance activity; and maintaining regulatory and legislative compliance in the areas of immigration compliance and Health and Safety.

The successful candidate will work as a member of the Legal, Governance & Compliance team and will aid the Head of Health and Safety in the strategic leadership of the Health and Safety function across the University. The role holder will aid the Head of Health and Safety in establishing and developing the culture around Health and Safety; raising the profile by being part of the University’s senior advisors on all Health and Safety related matters and developing, maintaining and promoting the Health and Safety Management System across a broad spectrum of activities within approved risk management and assurance frameworks.

You will be one of the University’s lead person for Health and Safety matters and should have recognised Health and Safety qualifications as well as extensive experience in dealing with a wide range of Fire Safety issues and solutions. You should possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills; and have the drive to deliver on the implementation of the University’s Health and Safety Policy and Health and Safety management system. It would be highly desirable for you to have experience of working either in the Education sector or a similar public sector environment.
