HSE Recruitment are currently working with a public services company on the recruitment of an interim Health and Safety Advisor for a period of 3 to 6 months. This role will be based from home but with 2 or 3 days in the office weekly, so candidates will need to be local to Colchester. The working hours are flexible between 7 and 8 daily, but core hours worked tend to be between 8:30 and 5pm.
As an Interim Health and Safety Advisor you will sit within the corporate governance function/team and will work closely with safety representatives at site level and a safety committee. The role will require someone with a flexible and adaptable attitude, you will need to listen, adapt and engage with the senior management to get results. You will need to provide specialist strategic Health and Safety advice to senior managers, research, interpret and formulate Health and Safety policy and procedures in relation to new legislation, and to communicate and take a lead with customers on their implementation, as well as supporting and enabling managers in the preparation, monitoring and evaluation of all the Health and Safety policies, procedures, safety standards and risk assessments.
The ideal candidate would come from an industry background such as local authority, social housing, FM or similar but most important is that you have a more general approach with varied experience capable of working in a varied working environment. We are looking for NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent as a minimum.
