This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join our Corporate Health & Safety Team to provide health & safety advice across the organisation and support our teams to deliver a wide variety of Council services from in-house waste collections, leisure centres and managed public spaces as well as the usual office-based activities.
The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for providing competent health and safety advice to the Councils managers and team leaders. They also manage First Aid and Fire Safety at the Forde House Complex. The post holder will be part of Corporate Health & Safety team based in the wider Environmental Health and Licensing Service. They will report directly to the Food, Health, and Safety Manager (CMIOSH) and will work with the Regulatory Support Officer daily.
- We need someone who enjoys being a team player and who can coach, motivate, and inspire people to work safely. Good IT and communication skills are essential as is a confident and flexible approach. Ability to prioritise risk and be practical in tackling issues including considerations of new ways of doing things. Creativity and innovation are encouraged.
Ideally you will be CMIOSH or working towards it, with a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent and experience in a similar role.
