The Opportunity

Hinkley Point ‘C’ (HPC) is a vital part of the UK’s future energy strategy. As the first of the UK’s next generation of Nuclear power stations, HPC is both of high profile and high complexity. Its delivery will be reliant not only on innovative engineering and construction but also on the strongest of Leadership.


We are currently looking to recruit and offer an exciting opportunity to join us as a Health, Safety and Environment Analytics Advisor. In this role you will work as part of the HPC Safety Improvement team. The HSE Analytics Advisor will process our leading and lagging indicator data using statistical methods, to produce trend information.  The output of which will help the team ensure that the site is managing its risks and continually improving HPC’s HSE performance. Working in a collaborative, assertive and supportive manner, the HSE Analytics Advisor will undertake a range of duties which include the day-to-day management of data and information, as well as getting out on site to help support the undertaking of risk-based intelligence HSE compliance monitoring.  All these activities contribute to EDF Energy’s goal of Zero Harm. 


We are looking for a highly driven individual who has experience of working in the health and safety field as well as analytical abilities. However, this is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who is looking for a role which would offer them some career development. 
 

The Person

As a Health, Safety and Environment Analytics Advisor your main responsibilities will include


•    Participate in creating, maintaining and improving HSE in the workplace
•    Research and provide advice about electronic tools and technologies that improve efficiency and effectiveness in business reporting
•    Develop timely project based HSE risk profiles to direct risk-based inspection and audits
•    Provide a consistent set of metrics to both measure past performance and assist with business planning
•    Participate in inspections, support accident investigations, keep records and write reports
•    Assist with HSE audits of construction activities on site, collect evidence and information
•    Co-ordinate and collate information required for the production of scheduled HSE reports and identify trends and early warnings of possible issues
•    Liaise with HPC HSE team to review appropriateness of remedial actions in response to observations, findings from inspections and audits      
•    Liaise with HPC Communications team to regularly publish interesting facts and information about Health, Safety and Environment
 

The Skills

As a Health, Safety and Environment Analytics Advisor, you will be characterised by the following knowledge, qualifications and experience:

•    Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop a wide network and working relationships within HPC Construction, Safety and Tier 1 Contractor management teams
•    Results focus tempered with team centred approach
•    Highly skilled in the analysis of technically demanding and detailed information; able to quickly identify the underlying issues and risks
•    Strong capacity to be future focused in identifying risks and implications 
•    Strong communication skills to be able to put across complex concepts and data in a way that is readily understood and actionable, using a variety of media
•    Skilful in engaging others with technical data and information that will maintain their interest and enthusiasm
•    Skilful in distilling knowledge and building skills in others and the capacity to be pragmatic and practical in the way that technical issues are addressed
•    Good IT skills 
•    NEBOSH Certificate 

Desirable

•    Skilful in statistical analysis, including explanatory and predictive modelling
•    Enthusiastic and driven to help establish a vision, develop and implement strategies to attain it. 
•    Good knowledge of large organisational, process plant and site operations
•    Good knowledge of national and international HSE standards
•    Good knowledge of HSE legislation and related regulations
•    Experience of working within an HSE team on complex and high-risk operations preferable
•    NEBOSH HSE Diploma / NVQ level 6 HSE
