HSE Manager - Inside IR35

HSE Recruitment are currently working with a truly exciting and innovating company on the recruitment of a HSE Manager on a contract basis. This role requires an immediate start and will run for approximately 3 to 6 months. The role can be based from Falkirk, Glasgow, or Inverness and will require approximately 2 or 3 days a week in the office with the others working from home. This role does sit inside of IR35 and is offered on a day rate basis of £300 per day.

As a HSE Manager, you will be report directly into the People and Safety director and will have responsibility for a large network across Scotland. Risks are wide and varied and include everything from manual handling, to noise and vibration, to infrastructure and civils risks, or water risks. AS a result we are looking for someone with ideally a background in construction or waste water or similar, with experience of working as a contractor with the ability to hit the ground running. A huge benefit would also be experience of visitor safety or similar.
You will need to be Diploma qualified or equivalent, although we will consider those working towards diploma if they can demonstrate extensive relevant experience. The role requires a fair amount of travel so you will need to be able to drive and have access to your own vehicle (travel expenses will be paid).

Most importantly is the personality fit for this role – we are looking for a really modern and engaging safety professional able to really start work on changing culture and encouraging everyone at all level of the business to take responsibility for safety.

The main duties for the role of Senior Health and Safety Manager include:

• Leading on and contributing to the development and implementation of strategies and action plans to continuously improve health, safety and wellbeing.
• Developing a positive health and safety culture which builds ownership, empowerment and technical excellence in health and safety policy and practice.
• Leading on maintaining H&S compliance across all areas of the business by carrying out audits, inspections, and investigations.
• Ensuring appropriate policies and procedures are in place and understood across the organisation; championing good practice and facilitating learning and sharing with stakeholders.
• Defining KPIs and providing accurate and timely management reports relating to health and safety performance to the relevant stakeholders.
• Co-ordinating the National Health and Safety Committee and providing sound governance relating to health and safety local groups and business area action plans.
• Supporting emergency preparedness and incident response.
• Keeping abreast of all industry trends, developments, and legislation and its relevance and application for the organisation.
