We are currently working with a globally leading consultancy who have an expanding client base and increasing workload. They are seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic Senior Ecologist for immediate start within their Environmental Planning team.

This is a unique opportunity for the right person to join the business and rapidly progress their career in ecology. They will join a wider team of Ecology professionals who work closely with colleagues in other disciplines, such as Planning, Landscape and Geotechnical engineering.

Candidates will be considered on a UK wide basis, but ideal locations would be East Grinstead, Cambridge, Manchester or Carlisle.

Responsibilities:

  • Punctuality, reliability, presentability, professional attitude: e.g., attending site for meetings/surveys, undertaking work, meeting deadlines
  • Carry out ecological surveys and lead surveys (as appropriate according to personal ecological specialisms) including: Phase 1 habitat surveys, site assessments for protected species, initial inspections for bats and follow-up surveys of activity, great crested newts using standard techniques
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, planning conditions and associated documents  Interpret survey data and advise colleagues and clients clearly about implications
  • Provide first level Quality Assurance to Ecologists’ reports
  • Manage and co-ordinate projects to produce thorough, accurate outputs and meet deadlines efficiently

Specification:

  • Degree level or equivalent academic qualification in Ecology or related field
  • A minimum of 5-years relevant experience with a level of people management experience, having already developed your core field and reporting skills in consultancy role
  • Excellent technical report writing skills
  • Demonstrable experience in complex report writing, inclusive but not limited to Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) reports, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA), Species and Habitat Management Plans
