Shirley Parsons have partnered with a local authority based in Cwmbran who have an opening for a Health & Safety Manager. This role is to provide expert health and safety advice and guidance on emerging, complex, critical and/or escalated issues, with experienced working knowledge of HSE, managing the risks, changes in legislation or guidance that HSE provide

The Role:
- Accountable as the appointed competent person to ensure that the senior management team are advised regarding their H&S responsibilities and compliance.
- Accountable for the continuous improvement of the H&S management system.
- Responsible for reviewing and maintaining the agreed H&S targets and associated performance management arrangements with the Head of Services.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining Health and Safety policies and procedures such that they meet changing legislation, Authority requirements, professional best practice guidelines.
- Responsible for establishing process to identify the health and safety hazards of activities and determine those which have, or may have, significant risks to health and safety. Ensuring a methodology is in place to mitigate such risks and that significant residual risks from audits/risk assessments are brought to the attention of Senior management.

The Role Requirements:
- Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent professional qualification).
- Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or equivalent professional body i.e. International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM)
- You will be experienced in Health and Safety legislation and best practice to drive compliance and continuous improvement with detailed experience of working with HSE.
- Influencing peers riving new initiatives and the ability to effectively negotiate and influence at a senior level.
- The ideal candidate will be able to operate strategically whilst maintain a hands on approach, acting as a strong role model for culture change.
