A leading specialist high risk manufacturing / engineering organisation is looking to appoint a proven Head of HSE to be the lead and develop the strategy across their UK sites. The Head of HSE will be responsible for continuing to drive and develop the safety culture within the organisation.

The Role of Head of HSE

  • Create, develop and implement the HSE strategy across their UK sites
  • You will be a hands-on leader, understanding where you can make an immediate impact and what the long-term goals will be
  • You will drive cultural change, bringing HSE and Compliance to the forefront
  • Coaching, managing and developing senior stakeholders will be essential, for you to drive change and enable individuals and the business to be more proactive
  • Ensure standards are met and continually improved upon
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Lead a large team of HSE professionals  

The Head of HSE candidate

  • Experience of working within a heavy industry / engineering / manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience of developing HSE strategies
  • Experience maintaining management systems such as ISO14001, ISO 45001
  • COMAH experience is desirable but no essential   
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification is preferable
  • Ideally a Chartered member of IOSH (or working towards)
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management, IEMA Diploma
  • Proven leadership skills – the ability to engage at all levels is vital
  • Committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence
