The University of Central Lancashire is one of the world’s Best Global Universities leading the way in modern learning. Based in the heart of the North West, the University has campuses in Preston, Burnley and West Cumbria.

The University is about to commence a new exciting phase of our ongoing Estate Strategy, and we are seeking to recruit a highly competent and customer-focussed Estates Compliance Manager to join our growing Estates Services & Capital Projects team based in Preston.

Initially reporting to the Assistant Director of Estates, you will be responsible for providing expert technical health and safety and risk management guidance and advice to the wider Estates Services & Capital Projects team – performing the role of ‘subject matter expert’ for all matters relating to statutory compliance in the built environment.

You will work closely with the University Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) team, and establish and maintain robust management systems and audit schedules to ensure that the University estate, and the underpinning operations carried out by the Estates Services & Capital Projects team, remain compliant and represent industry/sector best practice.

You will apply a particular focus on the management and control of contractors and suppliers engaged by the Estates Services & Capital Projects team – supporting the managers, supervisors and in-house team members to ensure that all those who work on the University estate do so safely and with due regard to students, staff, visitors and partners.

You have a first degree (or Ofqual equivalent) in health and safety or risk management, or construction and have attained NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. You will have a sound knowledge and understanding of project management. You will also have the relevant qualifications, training and experience to perform the Appointed Competent Person (ACP) role for asbestos management at UCLan.

You will be very organised and flexible in your approach to work, having the ability to work both independently and as part of the wider team - being able to work occasional evenings or weekends to meet the business need.

You will be confident in interacting with a wide range of stakeholders, as you will be responsible for maintaining effective working relations with faculties, schools and departments.

If you meet all of the essential criteria within the person specification, and you are interested in joining us at this exciting stage of our developmental journey, then please do apply.

For an informal discussion and further information, please contact Bill Hancox, Assistant Director of Estates at bhancox@uclan.ac.uk

Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston.

Please apply online via www.uclan.ac.uk/jobs; if you cannot apply online please contact Human Resources on 01772 892324 and quoting the reference number REQ005978. CVs will not be considered unless accompanied by a completed application form.
