Liverpool Streetscene Services Ltd established in 2016 is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Liverpool City Council, who sit at the heart of creating exceptional standards of environmental cleanliness and public realm services for residents, communities and local businesses across the city of Liverpool.

As a direct service provider, Liverpool Streetscene Services Ltd are responsible for the refuse and recycling collection service, street cleansing, grounds maintenance, highways maintenance and parks and green space maintenance contracts throughout the city of Liverpool. These services are key to ensuring the city of Liverpool remains clean, green and accessible to all, helping to develop and maintain local civic pride.

Liverpool Streetscene Services Ltd (LSSL) are looking to recruit a safety, health, environment and welfare manager to provide comprehensive advice, support, guidance and co-ordination of work systems and practices to ensure the organisation meets the highest quality standards and provides working conditions which are favourable and safe for all employees.

The successful candidate will positively promote the importance of all aspects of Safety, Health, Environment and Welfare compliance at both strategic and operational levels through proactively collaborating and supporting the Senior Leadership Team, Service Managers, Supervisors and Trade Unions. The successful candidate will ensure compliance in all health and safety responsibilities whilst implementing Safety, Health, Environment and Welfare strategies and the associated initiatives, processes, procedures and policy framework.

In this role, you will act as the appointed competent person under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (1999) and will determine the strategic direction and work priorities of this developing organisation.  We are after an individual who can champion and promote the highest standards of compliance and working practice in line with legislation requirements, company policy and best practice.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe management of all sites and premises LSSL operate from to ensure full compliance in line with HSE requirements and regulations. 

To fulfil the requirements of the role a relevant HSE qualification such as a degree, NVQ/HNC Level 6 in Occupational Health and Safety of NEBOSH diploma is essential. You must have significant experience in a senior role with a focus on Health, Safety, Environmental and Welfare preferably in a related discipline for example waste, environmental services or highways/transport.
