A vacancy now exists in Longford County Council for the position of Health and Safety Officer. The Council is responsibility for delivering a wide range of services in the local area with a focus on making Longford a prosperous county that seeks to support a vibrant economy, rural quality of life, active and safe communities, diversity, culture and heritage, healthy and sustainable natural environment along with a sense of community pride and place.

A vacancy now exists in Longford County Council for the position of Health and Safety Officer.

The Health and Safety Officer is responsible for the planning and management of the Health and Safety section for the Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and maintenance of a robust safety management system in accordance with legal and other requirements to enable a safe place of work for employees, contractors and visitors.

They will be responsible for the introduction of new initiatives, policies and procedures and working with multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and progressive Council which provides multiple services to the County.

The successful candidate will:

• hold a recognised Honours Degree (Level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications) in:
• Occupational Health and Safety, or
• Engineering, Architecture, and/or Science and at a minimum a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety

• Have a satisfactory knowledge of public service organisation
• Have at least 3 years satisfactory relevant experience
• Possess a full, clean driving licence
