We are looking for a Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join our corporate Health and Safety team.  You will support the Service Manager (Health and Safety) in a proactive role, working across all services within the Council to ensure compliance with the legislation and the council policies and procedures.  You will be providing professional and expert advice and guidance on all aspects of Health and Safety.

We are looking for a qualified advisor at NVQ5 and chartered membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH) with experience.  The successful candidate will have a ‘can do’ attitude, who enjoys working as part of a team but also a self-starter. An efficient, enthusiastic, confident and innovative individual with drive and determination.

However, we will consider offering a role as a career progression opportunity for someone who has experience and some training and qualifications but wanting to progress further to level 5 and gain chartered membership; or you may be qualified but needing experience.

Site visits are required and so the suitable candidate will have the ability to travel throughout the West Suffolk area.

In return we can offer you our benefits package which includes:

  • Flexibility in how you work.
  • Discounts on supermarkets and high street shops
  • Cashback on holidays and money off household bills
  • Local government pension scheme
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • Generous annual leave entitlement with an option to buy additional annual leave
  • Flexible working schemes
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives
