Band 3: £39,392 to £47,632

When our team can perform at its best, So can the nuclear industry.
The challenge
Often in the public eye, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is an evolving public corporation. Essentially, we’re responsible for shaping and delivering the regulation of nuclear safety and security across the UK. It’s a critical role and our team needs a safe, healthy working environment in order to give their best. Join us, and shape our vision for Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW), as a Senior Delivery Lead.
The role
As part of a small, dedicated HSW team within the HR Directorate, you’ll support a vital national regulator. The wellbeing of our professionals is a priority for us, and we’re currently developing our vision for HSW and modernising our approach. That means you’ll join us at an exciting time and enjoy a great opportunity to advance our HSW Vision, balancing safety culture with effective management policies.
Day to day, you’ll be undertaking risk assessments, defining management system arrangements, and helping to build a strong HSW culture at ONR. This involves building an assurance management programme to support the evaluation of legal compliance, and producing management reports and communications. Crucially, you’ll also be connecting with our wider team and bringing them on our HSW journey. You’ll therefore need good communication skills so you can share plans and win trust.
The person
At this level, you’ll need a Level 6 professional qualification (or equivalent) in Health & Safety, plus proven experience. If you don’t have IOSH or CIPD membership, you’ll be ready to work towards this with our support. With this background, you’ll know how to interpret HSW legislation, write risk assessments, create HSW management system arrangements and analyse data to identify areas for improvement. If you’re also highly organised with a team-focused approach, we could have a home for your skills.
In return, you can expect ongoing professional development and the chance to build your experience as well as our HSW culture.
The rewards
We offer competitive salaries at the ONR, with this role attracting a salary of £39,392 to £47,632. Furthermore, you’ll be eligible for a substantial Civil Service Pension scheme (including ill-health retirement and lump sum family benefits). Plus, you’ll receive a generous holiday entitlement.
About us
ONR is a Public Corporation with a Mission to provide efficient and effective regulation of the nuclear industry, holding it to account on behalf of the public. Our staff are drawn from a wide range of professional backgrounds with specialist inspectors to deliver our core business including civil engineering, radiological protection, human factors, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering and nuclear physics. And together they’re involved in everything from assessing safety cases, inspecting nuclear sites, communicating our decisions, training new recruits and representing the UK and ONR within the wider international nuclear community.
