Health and Safety Manager

Your new company
I currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join a growing business. Based on The Wirral, you will be responsible for, supporting and advising the business on all health, safety and facilities matters for a newly purpose built 180,000sq ft distribution centre site. Your new role
This role, reports directly into the Operations Director, managing the overall health, safety and facilities on site to an incredibly high standard, whilst also working towards continuous improvement of functionality and efficiency. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered too and regularly reviewed, updated and communicated
  • Deliver all elements of the facilities maintenance and services to meet regulatory requirements and business objectives
  • Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting
  • Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations
  • Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented
  • Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, and employees are aware of their responsibilities
  • Construct and communicate annual plan for key facilities maintenance objectives
  • Design and deliver bespoke training
  • In conjunction with the Operations Manager, agree and oversee contracts and providers for the delivery of site services including security, cleaning, building maintenance and utilities, waste disposal and recycling
  • Maintains site security services; personnel and security systems, ensures the facility is secure 24/7
  • Responds to emergencies or urgent issues relating to site services, utilities and buildings infrastructure on site as they arise and deals with the consequences
  • Monitors and manages environmental issues e.g. energy saving, recycling etc
  • Liaise with all relevant health, safety and environmental enforcing authorities including HSE and Environment Agency etc
  • Schedules and delivers planned training and evacuations to comply with H&S regulations


What you'll need to succeed
You will have experience in a similar role with a warehousing or distribution background and hold a NEBOSH certificate as a minimum. You will be able to demonstrate your passion for safety and be proactive, organised, and motivated and keen to drive improvements. You will have a hands on approach and be comfortable being on the floor and engaging with employees.

Salary is £40,000- £45,000 depending on experience.
