Newlon Housing Trust is a successful charitable housing association and one of the major providers of new affordable housing in north and east London. And right now, we’re looking for a Senior Building Safety Manager.

We’re looking for a talented individual to play a leading role in supporting our Property Services Director and the wider Executive team, by ensuring that Newlon fully complies with the Building Safety Act.

Following Dame Judith Hackitt’s review of Building Safety and the Regulatory System, this role has been created to prepare Newlon for the anticipated changes in regulations, in terms of developing policies and processes, working with the Head of Building Services building a team of Building Safety Managers and developing our safety case and safety management system.

This will involve taking responsibility for the leadership and development of the Building Safety Team, ensuring that all fire and building safety duties are carried out effectively and robustly in all Newlon’s high rise and/or higher risk residential buildings.

In addition, you will make sure that Newlon meets its obligations in respect of reporting on compliance and receiving necessary approvals/certification for these buildings from all relevant regulatory bodies.

You’ll already have a demonstrable track record of success in a professional management role, combined with a degree or at least Level 4 diploma level qualification in a relevant technical construction related discipline. Membership of a safety related institution (CIOB, RICS, IFE, IFSM, IFE, IFSM, IOSH, or equivalent), is also essential, as is a good understanding of housing property law, industry standards and good practice.

You’ll proven experience of the diverse duties this role demands, including the line management of a dispersed professional team, contract and budget management and the project management, analysis and review of audits and investigations.

In return, you can expect 27 days holiday, a non-contributory pension, excellent benefits and flexi time. You’ll also be working out of purpose-built new offices that form part of the award-winning Hale Village regeneration project, and are situated just two minutes’ walk from the major transport interchange at Tottenham Hale.
