Here at Dstl, we keep the UK safe and secure with the latest science and technology. We’re a world-leader in our field with one aim – protecting lives. That means our work is incredibly varied, with real value and purpose. As a Senior Safety Advisor, you’ll make sure that Dstl trials comply with regulations and are conducted with minimum risk.
The first line of professional Health, Safety & Environmental Protection (HS&EP), you’ll provide expert safety guidance and promote best practice. You’ll be a core member of the Trials Safety Technical Authority (TSTA), advising on a range of trials and creating safety training for trial-related roles.
You’ll also develop and lead a programme of assurance that ensures safety issues are identified and resolved. Knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice and regulations will be essential, and you’ll keep senior figures up-to-date on any key changes. At this level, you’ll also manage a small HS&EP team, supporting day to day activities. To provide capable leadership, you’ll need to be a confident and experienced professional.
A graduate IOSH member, you’ve worked in a safety-based role in a hazardous or science and technology environment. Your experience comes with a recognised Safety qualification at National Qualifications Framework Level 6 (NEBOSH Diploma) or NVQ equivalent. With this background, you’ll understand risk mitigation strategies and how to apply them. And crucially, you’re able to build great relationships within the laboratory and beyond.
With high quality training, work-life balance and the chance to advance, we offer flexibility and opportunities as well as varied, meaningful work. Join us at Dstl and find the unexpected inside.
