About the role

NFU Mutual formed its Risk Management Services function in 1992 and its in-house risk experts have been helping business owners identify and minimise commercial risk ever since. Due to some recent changes, we are seeking an experienced Healthy and Safety Consultant to join our existing team of Consultants in the South East.

Healthy and safety takes up two thirds of the Risk Management Services function and the department and its professionals pride themselves on delivering a bespoke health and safety consultancy service designed to improve client legal compliance, quality standards, risk exposure and ongoing management of health and safety, meeting service standards and KPIs.

We are looking for a Chartered IOSH qualified, experienced Healthy and Safety Consultant to work directly with our customers. The successful candidate will be provided with an existing customer base and further work will be generated by referrals. You will advise and report on risk in line with NFU Mutual’s policy to deliver prioritised bespoke advice and recommendations designed to improve legal compliance, quality standards and risk exposure, plus ongoing management of health and safety. The role will require you to build and maintain long standing relationships with clients, underwriting, fellow Health and Safety Consultants and industry and regulatory bodies to ensure the effective delivery of objectives and promotion of NFU Mutual’s Risk Management Services. This is a home-based role and the successful candidate will visit clients across the South East on an ad-hoc basis.

What we’re looking for

The successful individual will be an experienced health and safety professional who will either be Chartered IOSH qualified or working towards this. Ideally you will have experience of underwriting, surveying or commercial engineering and you will be target driven and used to working towards KPIs. You must be a real people person with a proven background in relationship building and working with a variety of customers. The successful candidate will be able to adopt a consultative approach to their work ensuring the best advice and outcome is delivered to our customers.
