We are seeking a committed individual to join our small Safety and Risk team to help deliver the Council’s health and safety responsibilities.  In this interesting and varied role, you will assist in preparing and providing clear, consistent and quality health and safety support in relation to all activities undertaken by the Council with a focus on the Waste and Housing functions.

The successful applicant will have previous experience in delivering a health and safety function, ideally within a Housing/Construction/Waste environment, possess excellent organisational and communication skills and have experience of carrying out a wide range of health and safety functions.

You will promote and secure compliance with health and safety legislation, assisting in the preparation of risk assessments, undertaking work place and site inspections, develop and deliver training, prepare policies and guidance documents. Other duties include assisting business services in undertaking contractor evaluation,  provide competent assistance to business services regarding CDM and fire safety, undertake audits and investigate accidents and incidents along with providing assistance to the Safety and Risk Management Officer in undertaking the corporate health and safety function.  

This role will suit a candidate with Health and Safety experience in construction, maintenance or facilities. You will have obtained the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and have demonstrable relevant experience.  Preference will be given to those candidates who have obtained, or are able to demonstrate that they are working towards, IOSH Technical membership.

You will be located at Castle House, Newark and regular access to a vehicle is required for travel within and outside the district.
