Head of Safety

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Safety/Senior Health & Safety Manager to join a leading transport business and lead health & safety across one of the best performing business units. The role will be leading a team and have the opportunity to further progress across the wider business as the ideal candidate will look to contribute to other areas. Whilst this is a senior position the ideal candidate will still look to remain hands on in their position and engage with site teams. This is a great opportunity for someone who has strong Health & Safety knowledge within a complex environment to join a business where they can progress into a senior leadership position. 

The Role:

• To take the lead on ensuring the company is compliant to health & safety legislation  
• Represent the company on senior leader meetings with internal and external parties 
• Continuously improve ISO management systems across the division 
• Lead accident investigations when required and report outcomes
• Leading in developing emergency response plans 
• Key driver in continuously improving how health & safety is viewed internally and externally 

The Candidate:

• 5 years + experience working in Health & Safety, ideally in rail or complex high risk environments
• NEBOSH Certificate, ideally Diploma level qualification or working towards 
• Minimum of Tech IOSH, working towards Grad IOSH  
• Strong stakeholder engagement 
• Willing to roll up sleeves and be part of the team whilst operating at senior level
