An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Safety & Business Continuity Manager to join the Estates & Campus Services department at the University of Northampton. This new post will build on the existence of a solid health and safety management system to develop the University's Health & Safety strategy whilst also leading our business continuity and business recovery preparedness.

The Safety & Business Continuity Manager leads a small team of safety professionals and supports the Director of Estates & Campus Services in providing a proactive, dynamic, and professionally led service, assisting university stakeholders with fulfillment of their health, safety and business continuity responsibilities.

About You 

The successful candidate will have significant demonstrable experience of health & safety and business continuity management in higher education or another multi disciplinary organisation.

The post holder will be a member of IOSH and BCI, preferably at chartered and MBCI level and will have the ability to influence others and negotiate an agreeable outcome by written and verbal communication.

You will also have excellent leadership skills and be able to delegate appropriately whilst being able to meet tight and demanding deadlines. The post holder will also be required to adapt to technological advances in the workplace.

Qualifications

Essential: 

NEBOSH Diploma and Business Continuity Management Diploma or equivalent in both disciplines.

Desirable: 

Qualifications in related disciplines e.g. fire safety, auditing, ergonomics.

ISO22301 implementation, auditor qualification or relevant experience.

Estates & Campus Services and its network of staff and contracts, support the University strategy through the provision, management, maintenance and development of a first class estate, enhancing the student experience and creating an environment that builds our internal and external communities .

The department includes the following teams: Capital Development & Estates Infrastructure, Safety & Business Continuity, Environment & Sustainability, Security & Community Safety, Catering & Commercial and Facilities Services which includes Building Services, External Services, Facilities Management and Front of House.
