Why inclusivity underpins modern health and safety

Creating a culture where people can be their authentic self is absolutely critical to effective health and safety, says Kat Parsons.

Kat has recently joined energy and services company Centrica as head of diversity, equity and inclusion but before that she was head of diversity, inclusion and belonging at facilities management company ISS, where she helped create a highly supportive environment by ensuring that the senior team led by example. ‘People call it a soft skill, but I’d argue it’s far harder to be empathetic and vulnerable with someone in order for them to trust you and to speak out if something isn’t right than it is to perform hard skills.’
