IOSH launches new initiative to give aspiring OSH professionals work experience
IOSH is proud to announce the launch of its new work experience initiative, designed to connect aspiring health and safety professionals with valuable work experience.
What is the initiative?
Individuals, employers, and recruiters can advertise work experience opportunities on the IOSH Jobs website completely free of charge. This could range from work shadowing, an ‘insight week’, or a full internship.
Candidates can make a profile, upload their CV, and apply for these opportunities. This is the perfect opportunity for both IOSH Student Members and those new to OSH to gain experience!
Why are we launching this initiative?
The OSH profession needs to continue to grow to meet the demands of the changing world of work. Construction, green industries and beyond will need support to ensure the safety of the workforce. In countries like the UK, Ireland, and Australia for example, the OSH profession has been flagged as in elevated demand. However, there are complex entry routes into OSH, and there is a Catch-22 work experience trap.
This initiative is designed to build bridges into OSH for both early careerists and career changers. By launching this initiative, IOSH aims to:
- Provide aspiring OSH professionals with the opportunity to gain real-world experience and enhance their employability.
- Enable organisations to discover fresh talent and contribute to the development of the next generation of safety and health professionals.
How does it work?
This is not just for experiences of working in a health and safety role. It can also be used to provide experiences of health and safety within the context of a particular industry!
Employers can advertise their work experience opportunities for free by completing this form. The recruitment team will then be in touch with any questions and to confirm your advert.
Employers will need to read and agree to the IOSH Work Experience Guide and the Terms and Conditions before submitting their advert template.
This initiative is a call to action for the occupational safety and health community. By participating, you are not only investing in the future of the profession, but also contributing to a safe and healthy world of work. If you have any questions, please contact ioshjobs@redactive.co.uk.
